Blog: A taste of what you may find on Maui

New Maui activities

I’ve come across a few new Maui activities for you to try out next time you are on island. I went on the free walking tour, and am currently plotting doing one of the resin boards. It is beautiful!

Free Kihei Walking Tour

Last week we went on a new 75-minute sunset-timed Kihei walking tour. Local Maui resident Keith Devey takes you on a one mile walk along Kalama Park, talking story about Kihei’s history, past residents, World War 2 connection and tourism. Kihei tours are currently offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, with plans to introduce Wailuku town tours at some point. This tour was very informative, well-researched and well done. Highly recommend.

Keith is hoping to do some for Wailuku town next!

I have seen these ‘free city tours’ in many cities. Please do tip generously.

Resin Art Classes

Local artist Yulia Karcher is offering resin art classes. I came across this on Facebook, and honestly, it looks fun. I’ve seen these charcuterie boards at various farmers’ markets. It makes for a unique souvenir to take home from your Maui trip. Follow her on Instagram for video shorts of the classes.

Little Free Art Galleries in Makawao

Makawao has several art galleries, but now it has a few more. These are interactive ‘little free art galleries‘. Look at the art, take one but leave one in return. Say what? Check out this article for more information.

Lahaina Art Fair

Ok, not new, but newly reopened since the Lahaina Fires, the Lahaina Arts Society Fair is happening again. A few years ago the art fair had moved from under the Banyan Tree to the Lahaina Cannery Mall. It takes place Fridays and Saturday 9 AM-4 PM. Please support our local artists, it’s been a rough stretch for many of them since the fires.
