Have you checked out South Maui Gardens near Kalama Park in Kihei? Yes the Gardens are technically a plant nursery, but there is so much more. Tucked in behind the Island Surf Building and some of the South Kihei Road shopping areas, you wouldn’t know this 7 acre space is hidden out of the hustle and bustle. The owners have transformed this nursery into a community space with food trucks, shops and plenty of shaded seating to take it all in. The gardens are open Mon-Sat 8-4. The food trucks on either end are open into the evening, but be aware you will need to walk along South Kihei Road (rather than through the nursery section) after hours.
The main entrance is located on the South end (just behind Island Surf) with a large gravel parking lot just mountain-side (mauka). There is usually a big blue station wagon parked at the entrance and right off the batt you will see the Blue Door Bread & Pizza and Kitoko food truck on the left and Da Green Coffee Shop on the right.

Thursday mornings from 9-1pm South Maui Gardens hosts an artisan market, so I went and checked it out! Various vendors had tents and tables set up in the nursery portion of the property. Today there were some jewelry tables, clothing etc vendors. If you keep walking you will end up at the Kihei Food Oasis, across the street from the restaurants and shops at Kalama Village. This is a cute collection of food trucks.
On the second Saturday of every month they host live music, enjoy your food truck dinners and free live music.
Hula Show
New as of April, Wednesday evenings they are hosting a Hula Show. Note, as opposed to a traditional luau, food is not included ~ pack a picnic from the condo or one of the food trucks and come enjoy the show. Pricing is $100/person, but check their Instagram ~ as they get started they are offering discounts and giveaways!
Blue Door Bread & Pizza
Today my friend and I met for pizza at the Blue Door. I’ve been meaning to stop there, and actually had eyed up their open-faced sandwiches a few weeks ago. My son had brought me a Buy one get one free coupon, so we enjoyed two pizzas, and dessert… It was delicious. I’ll have to come back for those sandwiches one day soon. I’ve blogged about Blue Door in the past – their bread is delicious.
We had a table in the shade, but it was a little warm today. I think next time we’ll get our food to go and cross over to Kalama Park for an oceanfront picnic.
